CANTILEVER STORAGE RACK

Plywood and Lumber Cantilever Rack Storage

CANTILEVER STORAGE RACK

Cantilever rack is a freestanding storage unit with horizontal load carrying arms that extend out over the base of a vertical upright column. This allows an unimpeded front access to the rack system by hand picking or forklift loading and unloading.

Cantilever storage racks are used to store long loads of lumber, bar stock, pipe, steel, bundles of plywood, furniture, and other awkward product that will not work on standard pallet rack.

The cantilever uprights are designed to mount to a heavy duty base that is anchored to the concrete floor and arms and brace sets for storage above.

Uprights are available from 6’ high to 20’ high with 2’ wide to 10’ wide brace sets. Arms can be straight arms or inclined arms depending on your product storage need and have a lip on the end of the arm or without. 12” long to 60” long arm lengths.

Arms can range from 500 lbs. capacity per arm up to 3,000 lbs. per arm load carrying capacity.

Important keys to designing a cantilever storage rack system include: determine the spacing between upright columns and arms in order to fully support the length of the product you are storing. The load should overhang the end arms by ½ the distance from upright centerline.

The length of the arms should be as long or longer than the depth of the load, so the product load does not extend past the length of the arm and the load center of the product stored should always be at the centerline of the arm or back.

Vertical arm spacing should allow for at least 4” – 6” of lift off clearance for product loading and unloading.
